Lawren E.I. Wowk

Lawren grew up in Maple Ridge, BC playing hockey and baseball allowing him the opportunity to travel playing in Provincial Championships and the BC Best Ever Program. Following graduation, Lawren attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS, and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. During his studies, Lawren maintained a scholarship while continuing his passion to play hockey.

In 1997, Lawren convocated from St. FXU and moved to St. Paul, AB to begin a teaching career and coaching hockey. Lawren’s paternal roots are in farming and ranching in North-eastern Alberta which allowed the experience of traveling throughout Canada and the USA dealing with the horse and cattle industry. Lawren made St. Paul his home for 5 years and coached Atom AA and Pee Wee AA. In 2002, Lawren and his wife moved to Cardiff, Wales in the United Kingdom to attend the University of Wales, Cardiff College of Law graduating in 2005. Lawren became a lifetime member of the Innes of Court – Gray’s Inn in London, England. Lawren attended the University of Saskatchewan to complete the law equivalency program. Lawren and his wife moved to Cold Lake, AB to begin his Articles of Clerkship with then Grey Munday LLP. Lawren has been incredibly fortunate to be able to work with Grey Munday LLP throughout his legal career and is extremely proud to see the Firm grow to Grey Wowk Spencer LLP. He is especially excited to have a fully operational office in Calgary, AB, as well as an expansion office in Edmonton to better serve the Firm’s clients.

Lawren and his family are annual supporters and participants in the CIBC Run for the Cure. Lawren also coaches within the Cold Lake community including soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and hockey. Lawren has been a Hockey Alberta Coach Facilitator for 4 years where he enjoys meeting with coaches from around the Province building and assisting with the coaching development model and long-term athlete development. Lawren has also held the position of the VP of Hockey Operations for Cold Lake Minor Hockey and coaches during the hockey season. Lawren appreciates the opportunity to build the development model for Cold Lake Minor Hockey and create positive relationships and experiences for the parents, the children, and the community.

In 2021, Lawren expanded the Grey Wowk Spencer LLP practice into Edmonton.
